Deconstruction Reconstruction

by Michael Wimberly

Deconstruction Reconstruction is a rerelease of compositions composed and recorded in the early 90s for various NYC dance companies and choreographers. The title refers to the process of composing music with a choreographer who is in the process of making a dance. My initial ideas I brought to the choreographer after an extended conversation always went through a deconstruction process. I would tear away fragments and then reconstruct and edit the music to support the feeling, intention, and vision that the choreographer was going for.
